Christmas on the Pearl

The Captain's quarters are set. The large desk has been cleared of Jack's personal goods. The rest of the room is neat and orderly, as it tends to be (much to Gibbs' constant surprise). Whatever chairs can be found belowdecks have been dragged up by the first mate, creating a cozy feel.

The desk and the larger chests are covered with oilcloth, which serve as crude tablecloths. The ship's hodgepodge of dishes, cups and silverware, plundered from many ports and ships, sit near a selection of traditional holiday treats, from ham to mincepie. At the center of the desk, there is a crystal decanter with a gold nameplate saying "Captain Jack Sparrow", filled with red wine, surrounded by matching glasses.

And there is a small, sparsely decorated tree in a corner near the hammock.

It's Christmas on the Black Pearl. Welcome.

Gibbs here a knock from a strange place. That's not the kind of sound he wants to hear.

But then he sees...a woman? Dressed in her underwear? Standing on the water?

"Jesus, Mary and Joseph!" An apt way of putting it perhaps, if a little sacrilegious for the day.

Rachel glanced upward, and even in the fading light the emerald of her eyes was clear "Rachel Grey" she corrected easily, and the smile was felt in the bones.

"Oh. Of course. The cap'n mentioned you." Said some typically confusing things that Gibbs didn't understand or believe, in fact. By now, Gibbs should know better. "But he didn't say anything about walking on water.

"Best you come on board before the Lord gets angry with you for doing that on his birthday."

She actually reached up to climb the ladder rather than give the man a heart attack, sure and agile as she came aboard. "No one's gotten angry at me yet" she admitted.

"And I was out there anyway" her hand gestured vaguely farther upon the lake. "I'm sorry if it bothers you though...I'll try to behave"

"Er, yes, that would probably be a good idea." And he might do likewise, but his resolve to tolerate women on the ship is weak already.

"I'm Gibbs. Happy Christmas." He tries to find some cheer.

Rachel's smile was a little shadowed now, but she could hardly blame him. "Merry Christmas" she offered in return, resolving to simply stand quietly off to the side until others arrived.

Less chance of upsetting him more that way.
