Christmas on the Pearl

The Captain's quarters are set. The large desk has been cleared of Jack's personal goods. The rest of the room is neat and orderly, as it tends to be (much to Gibbs' constant surprise). Whatever chairs can be found belowdecks have been dragged up by the first mate, creating a cozy feel.

The desk and the larger chests are covered with oilcloth, which serve as crude tablecloths. The ship's hodgepodge of dishes, cups and silverware, plundered from many ports and ships, sit near a selection of traditional holiday treats, from ham to mincepie. At the center of the desk, there is a crystal decanter with a gold nameplate saying "Captain Jack Sparrow", filled with red wine, surrounded by matching glasses.

And there is a small, sparsely decorated tree in a corner near the hammock.

It's Christmas on the Black Pearl. Welcome.

Hunger could be easily remedied, especially when there were perceptive people ghosting about the edges of the party. It probably wasn't surprising that an empath passed a plate of holiday snacks to the newcomer, emerald eyes more than a little amused.

Raven grins back, not quite grabbing the plate out of her hand.

"I am, I think, always hungry, so."

It is not apologetic in the least.

"And since you hadn't managed to find the food...I thought it best to bring it before I felt someone starving" Rachel chuckled, not expecting an apology at all.

"It'd ruin the party to have one of the guests waste away, and then we'd all be sad"

Raven laughs, head tilted back.

"Mostly it takes longer than a day, I think. But I am grateful, nonetheless."

"Stranger things have happened, so best not to take chances" she chuckled, a lighter sound to blend with the laughter.

"I would say it is better, so, but possibly I am very odd, yes?"

He wrinkles his nose, still laughing, and inhales the majority of the contents of the plate.

"Odd amongst a party of oddities..." she was still chuckling, though softer now.

"Though, if you manage to choke we'll be equally sad" she noted, watching him eat with something close to worried fascination.

Raven waves one hand.

"I have, I think, had a great deal of practice. Also the lack of biology is helpful."

"Yeah, that does come in handy" she noted, taking the information in stride as a matter of course.

She had the urge to start floating out parts of the meal to see how much Raven could manage to make disappear before people noticed...

"Has anyone ever timed you eating?" she asked curiously.

Raven considers this.

"I do not think it likely, no."

He wrinkles his nose, leaning forward a little.

"It is difficult, perhaps, because I am never not hungry, do you see?"

"That can't be comfortable" she noted, then again, she was the type who routinely forgot to eat.

"But taking that into account, it'd be interesting to see exactly how much you could eat..." she tilted her head to the side as she regarded him, an odd smile on her lips.

"Villages complain, I am thinking."

Sometimes entire countries.

Well. Once.

"That's why we put a time limit on it" she laughed, a sound like summer across the ice.

"We could weigh pounds of food out and set you at it..." then post the record in Bar and see if anyone else could beat it...

"That's okay, so do I" she waved a hand dismissively.

"I just think it'd be hilarious to see who'd try to beat your record"

And now Raven looks thoughtful, indeed.

"Now that, I think, would make it very much worth the effort, yes?"

Maybe not today, because eating all the Pearl's supplies would be bad, but--

"And there's plenty of doctors in the Bar, in case some of the challengers don't have your handy knack of not choking" she agreed.

Then she sighed, glancing over her shoulder at the dinner spread "True. We don't want Jack to make us walk the plank or something..." Though that could be amusing too.
